Majan Mining Company LLC operates under a mining concession agreement with the Government of Sultanate of Oman, which gives it the right to mine limestone within its concession area in West Teetam, Salalah.  The deposit is characterized by massive and thick bedding of low silica limestone--up to 150 m in thickness--and very low overburden.  The limestone is exceptionally low in silica (less than 0.5 pct), high in calcium (above 54 pct), low decrepitation index (less than 5) and very high reactivity.  This makes it ideal for usage in steel industry.  The total reserve of limestone is approximately 800 million tons.
 
Mining operations commenced in early 2008 and commercial production started during fourth quarter of year 2008.  During the first phase of operation, the mine is geared to produce and export about 2 million tons of limestone per annum.  Production will be ramped up to 5 and 10 million tons per annum during second and third phases, respectively.  Majan Mining has a very qualified team of engineers, headed by Mr. Md. Fasihuddin as President Operations, who has more than 40 years of experience in operating and managing mines around the world.
 
All exports will be done through Port of Salalah which can accommodate vessels up to 14.5 m draft.
